Apartment Rentals for Your Retirement

As you plan for your retirement, you may be thinking about apartment rentals. A rental on the beach, for example, can provide you with the break you need from day-to-day life. Many couples are retiring and purchasing secondary homes like this. However, if you do not plan to be at a location full-time, renting an apartment may be a better option than purchasing a home in a key destination. There are a few other benefits to this investment, too.
No Long-term Commitment Needed
You have dreamt of moving to warmer climates all of your life and now that your retirement years are here, you are not too sure you want to be that far away long term. With apartment rentals, you do not need to be. You can rent the facility when you need it and not worry about any complications. If you were to purchase a home, on the other hand, you would need to sell it if you were not satisfied with the location. That can take time and tie up assets for a long period.
Ideal Location
Another of the benefits is that you can often get better access to the types of attractions you want to be near. For example, you may want to be close to the beach, perhaps even within walking distance of it. Buying a home near the water can be very pricey and very limited. On the other hand, there are many areas where condos and apartments are right on the water. You can apply this same concept to any location, not just on the water. For better access to the things that you plan to do, you should choose these facilities instead.
Less Work Involved
Even better, you may be happy to no longer have to worry about cleaning gutters, cutting grass, and maintaining the home's structural components. You did that throughout your life and now you want someone else to do it for you. That is exactly what you can expect in apartments. You no longer have to invest in these tasks any longer and that means more time for you to do what you wanted to do - retire.
For many men and women, retiring means they are getting away and getting in years of relaxation. You have worked hard for it. Apartment rentals can be an excellent choice, especially if you want to move near the beach or into a warmer climate. No matter if you plan to move to Florida or somewhere else, do not invest in a house right away. Give yourself a few leases at a local complex first. That way, you can be sure you are making the best financial and emotional decision for yourself both now and well into the future.

Courmayeur - Not Just a Winter Destination

You may think that transfers from Geneva to Courmayeur are always full of people carrying skis or other forms of winter equipment. You'd be wrong! The mountains are also very popular in summer.
Where is Courmayeur?
In spite of the sound of its name, this resort town is actually in Italy on of the Italian side of Mont Blanc. It is a popular and quite sophisticated ski resort during the winter season and is extremely well known as a centre for all winter sports activities. Although there are several ways to get there, one common route is by air to Geneva with a subsequent Geneva to Courmayeur transfer. The major town in this part of Italy is Aosta and, as you might imagine, there is stunning scenery just about everywhere.
Summer activities
It sometimes surprises people to hear that the mountains don't just close down as a holiday destination once at the snow goes away and the temperature starts to rise.
What happens is, they simply open up to an entirely different range of leisure activities and attract a different clientele.
Perhaps the most obvious example is hiking. Yes, of course, these mountains are the sort of thing associated with professional climbers and those 'fingertips' dramatic sequences in many a Hollywood film; yet they are also about rather more pragmatic walking, involving a good sturdy pair of boots and a set of reasonable, although by no means superhuman, leg muscles. In and around the region are numerous paths and hiking trails that are suitable for just about all fitness levels.
If you are really fit and enjoy pushing yourself, you can also hire various forms of off-road bike and get up into some of the most stunning scenery that you can see on two wheels. Just keep in mind that a bike trail that starts off in a nice easy gentle decline may actually result in you needing to cycle back up it!
In fact, there is a vast range of such activities in the area and far too many to list here in detail. Swimming, nature watching, fishing, pony trekking and umpteen other pastimes will all be available either on your doorstep or within a very short travelling distance.
The weather
If you are travelling from Geneva to Courmayeur for the first time outside the winter season, you may be wondering what the weather will hold for you upon your arrival.
In practice, the weather during the late spring, summer and early autumn months is generally good with plenty of sun during the middle part of that period. Just keep in mind that the days may be very hot but the nights might still be chilly enough for woollies or fleeces if you are staying at altitude. Bottom line - if you are travelling from Geneva to Courmayeur in the summer, don't worry. The chances are you'll have pretty good weather on the whole once you get there.

Buddhist Pilgrimage - What Not to Miss When in India!

India is one of the few countries that have a rich population that follows Buddhist faith. This can be due to two reasons. The first reason is that Gautam Buddha was born in India, in the city of Lumbini somewhere in the Northern India. Some people say Lumbini is actually in Nepal but since there is not much documentation, it does not make any difference. Also, when in India, you can cross the border to Nepal without any requirement of special documents.
The second reason why there are so many followers of Buddhist faith in India is the presence of exiled Tibetan leader Dalai Lama. The honorable Lama is currently the head of main monastery in Tibet that is occupied by China. When Dalai Lama sought asylum in India, many of his followers came with him to India - bringing with them, the religious teachings of Buddhism. Since there is not much difference between the Hindu and Buddhism religion, you will find many Hindus following both faiths at the same time. Most of such people can be found in the sacred city of Sarnath, near Kashi (also known as Varanasi).
When it comes to Buddhist pilgrimage in India, there are many places that have been an attraction for not only the people of Buddhist faith but also for admirers of art and sculpture. Among the must visit places of Buddhist faith is Sarnath. When Lord Buddha got enlightenment about the realities of life and its problems, he went to Sarnath and shared his learnings there with fellow people who were seeking answers to the miseries of life. It is also said that when the king of Kashi came to know about Buddha, he donated a deer park to his monastery in Sarnath. The deer park stands till date and has been well kept.
You can also find medieval structures related to Kashi rulers in some parts of Sarnath. There is a monastery with a huge idol of Buddha. Sarnath was identified by the king turned Buddhist Ashoka who installed a Stupa there with the inscriptions related to Buddhist teachings. The image of four headed lion seen in Indian government's emblem is derived from the emblem on this Stupa. Sarnath also houses a museum with literature and artifacts on Buddha. Owing to all these features, Sarnath is a must visit place when on a Buddhist pilgrimage.
Another important place that you should not miss when on a Buddhist pilgrimage is the Buddhist caves or Ajanta caves as they are called. These are very old caves that contain paintings related to Jataka tales. It is believed that Lord Buddha took many more births before he came to earth as Buddha. The Jataka tales are related to his previous births and each tale carries one or more morals related to Buddhism. You might notice parts of paintings chopped off due to the constant exposure of these caves to winds etc.
Another not to miss place is Kushinagar. This is the place where Buddha attained nirvana and left for heavenly abode. Kushinagar tours are available with tour operators facilitating Buddhist pilgrimage. They can be separate tours or ones combined with other tours. For details, contact your tour provider.

Condo Rental for Long Stays

The term condo rental usually refers to a unit in a high rise building that is rented out. For many of the owners of these units, their tenants usually stay longer than just a few days; maybe some can last up to several months. There are many benefits to staying in such places and even the owners can see the benefits of renting out their dwellings to people for an extended stay.
Factors of a Good Unit
There are several factors that a person looking to rent one should take note of. One of the things that have to be present is basic furnishing. A condo rental usually has the basics when it comes to the basics. These include furniture such as tables and chairs. The sets need to include those for the living room area and the kitchen area as well. Other necessary furniture pieces are beds and kitchen appliances which can facilitate cooking and food preparation. These are some of the things that a renter should look for in a unit. Without the bedroom furniture and the kitchen appliances, it may be difficult to live comfortably in the place for several days, let alone several weeks.
Another thing that the renter should look for is the ease of access that comes with the location of the high rise building and the neighborhood itself. Having a fully furnished place is useless if it is not located within the commercial or tourist district of the city with access to the different means of transportation available to the people in the city. The condo rental is more appealing and in demand if it is located in an area that can be accessed easily by train, bus or taxi or even by walking. Some of the buildings are close to places of interest even if they are located far from the busy city center. These can also hold some appeal for tourists who wish to be close to the places they want to visit while in the area.
Being under the management of a good rental management firm is one of the things that the renter should also take note of. Firms with a good reputation take care of their units with or without the demands or the prodding of the owners. The firms should be able to maintain the appearance and welfare of the unit in such a way that they can easily answer any questions that the renter might wish to know with regards to the condition and the state of the place. The condo rental should come with a list of things which are working well and things that can be used by the person renting the place. It is important that this list be given to the renter before he or she pays for it. There are some stipulations and conditions that may be included in the contract for the place. Renters should clarify or ask about anything that is bothering them in order to be at ease when renting.

Discovering the Taste of Rome

While a holiday in a Rome luxury hotel may count as among one of life's lavish pleasures, there is still an opportunity to experience life's simple joys in the capital of Italy. Wandering around, window-shopping, discovering masterpieces that are not only found inside museums and galleries but right outside, on the streets themselves - there are so many pleasurable activities to be enjoyed!
Take A Sip of Life
Eating and drinking are part of the Italian way of life, and proof of this can be found in every piazza and street corner of every city and town. Extravagant options may be had within one's Rome luxury hotel and its immediate surroundings, but to enjoy la viva Roma the way the Romans do, it's best to go out 'in giro' - getting out and about to discover the authentic taste of the city.
Fabulous Frascati
It has been said that Frascati is the most often-mentioned wine in Italian literature, and if you step out of your Rome luxury hotel to see how the locals enjoy it you'll find out why! After all, if ever there was a wine the city is known for it is Frascati. Grown, aged and bottled in the countryside for almost two thousand years, this distinctive Roman vintage is referred to as the Golden Wine - both for its colour and its value. It has become part and parcel of the cultural and economic traditions of the city.
The very popularity of Frascati ensures that it is easy to find; there will be enoteche stocking Frascati close to any Rome luxury hotel. If you're a wine buff, however, a visit to Al Vino Al Vino is in order. Enthusiasts will enjoy this friendly establishment with over 500 wines and other spirits, as well as Sicilian-inspired food to go with them. As for enoteche or wine shops, there are many found on almost every street, but a couple worth mentioning are the Antica Enoteca di Via Croce where artists converge, and the cosy Il Goccetto.
Glorious Grappa
This is one of Italy's most popular traditional drinks - and easy to find within the vicinity of any Rome luxury hotel. Made from pomace - which includes the grape skins, seeds and stalks left over from the winemaking process - and made to undergo further distillation, this is a drink that is distinctly Italian, with its name protected by the EU. Only grappa sourced and produced in Italy can bear the name. It is interesting to note that the best wines do not necessarily make the best grappa, and there are now flavoured grappas with almond, honey, blueberry and cedro - Italy's version of an oversized lemon.
The Poli Grappa museum on Ponti Vecchio is a great place to visit, featuring information on the history of grappa and the distillation process, as well as tastings to sample some of Poli's products. Tours of the distillery can also be arranged.
Fernet Branca
A household name in Italy and a cult hit abroad, Fernet Branca is one of Italy's more unusual drinks. Its thick, bitter flavour makes it something of an acquired taste, but it's definitely a new experience!
Coffee
Paris may be the tops in many people's minds when it comes to coffee and cafés, but one could be so bold as to claim that there is no comparison between good Roman espresso and anything the French can offer in terms of coffee. There are coffee bars all over Rome, ranging from the high-end café in your Rome luxury hotel, to the rough-and-ready kiosks serving up espresso to commuters in the larger metro stations.
